Better late then never... I guess...
Despite buying trainers and promising to ride everyday this winter today was our first day on our bikes since last fall!! Ahhh... thats bad! 1.) because we wasted money on indoor trainers that did nothing but collect dust all winter and 2.) we leave in 8 weeks!
8 a.m. my alarm wakes me and I'm excited to finally ride! I look out my window and it looks freezing and cold and awful and I'm not excited anymore. I immediately called Erin to talk about possibly starting next weekend.. just like I did the weekend before, and the weekend before that too. As the phone was ringing it hit me that very soon I will be riding my bike 2,000 miles, and Im not at all prepared! So when she answers I tell her it looks cold but we HAVE to go and I'll be there in 15 mins so be ready.
I ride to her house all bundled and I can immediately tell she's not happy with me or the idea of riding. Then we discuss how at the very least when we're on our trip and we're having a bad day we can say "at least it's not as bad as that one day."
So we start riding and of course a snow flake falls. Yep, we're riding in the snow... and I thought it was going to be sunny and 50. Despite having numb toes and fingers it really wasn't that bad. It was a short ride, but a good start non the less. So it's official. When people ask if we've been training I can officially say yes, which makes me feel a lot better about our upcoming adventure!
